"Won't Specifically Dismiss Only the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family"
Former People Power Party lawmaker Kim Young-woo predicted that there would be "no immediate dismissal" of Kim Hyun-sook, Minister of Gender Equality and Family, amid calls for her removal following the disruption of the Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree.
In an interview on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' on the 11th, former lawmaker Kim said, "If Minister Kim is dismissed now, a new minister would have to be selected, a confirmation hearing prepared, which would be extremely cumbersome."

Rather, Minister Kim Hyun-sook might simply complete her term along with the abolition process of the ministry and its history."
He continued, "Multiple ministries, the previous government, and the current government all bear collective responsibility, so it doesn't seem likely that only the minister of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family will be singled out for dismissal."
Regarding the Jamboree incident, Kim pointed out, "Everyone made mistakes; there is no one to solely blame." He said, "The previous administration hosted the event and should have prepared infrastructure such as drainage, water supply, and restrooms over the past five years. The current administration should have established measures against heavy rain and heatwave damage. It is rather strange to see the fault placed solely on either the previous or the current administration."

Commenting on the ruling and opposition parties' disputes over responsibility for the Jamboree disruption, Kim said, "Blaming the previous or current government will never end," and added, "While it is quite unreasonable and unfavorable for the ruling party to blame the previous administration, it is also inappropriate for the opposition to criticize only the current government as if it bears no responsibility despite having had five years to prepare."
