Honoring Citizens Who Elevate the City's Honor and Serve as Role Models for Citizens
Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced that it is accepting nominations for the 2023 ‘Gwangyang City Citizen Award’ and the ‘Proud Gwangyangian Award (for those who have moved away)’ until the 25th of this month.
The ‘Gwangyang City Citizen Award’ is given to citizens who have enhanced the city’s honor and served as role models for all citizens through contributions to the development of the local community and the promotion of citizen welfare in the fields of education and science, sports promotion, social welfare and environment, regional development, cultural promotion, public welfare, and industrial economy.
The ‘Proud Gwangyangian Award’ is awarded to those who have demonstrated outstanding abilities in various fields such as culture, tourism, science, industry, and economy, contributing to national and social development and bringing honor to the city as individuals originally from Gwangyang but now residing elsewhere.
The awardees will be selected by the mayor from among the candidates chosen through a rigorous review by the judging committee in September, and the awards will be presented at the ‘2023 Citizen’s Day Commemoration Ceremony’ held on October 6.
Jang Min-seok, Director of the General Affairs Division, said, “We hope many people will show interest so that those who have contributed to illuminating Gwangyang can receive the honor of the award.”
