Jinju City Sets Water Play Danger Zones to Prevent Summer Safety Accidents
Sugok-myeon Deokcheongang Changchon Bridge to Sewol Bridge Section
River ... Fines to Be Imposed for Violations
Jinju City in Gyeongnam has designated the approximately 3 km river area near Sugok-myeon, from Changchon Bridge to Sewol Bridge, as a water play danger zone (temporary from June to August during summer) in accordance with Article 41 (Establishment of Danger Zones) of the Framework Act on the Management of Disasters and Safety, due to concerns about water play safety accidents during the summer season.
The designated danger zone is an area where water depth fluctuates significantly and currents are fast due to heavy summer rains or typhoons, posing a risk of casualties during water play. It is also a location where certain parts have deep water and underwater rock structures causing rapid currents.
In the Changchon Bridge to Sewol Bridge section designated as the water play danger zone, danger zone warning signs, disaster safety lines, and rescue equipment have been installed, and access for water play visitors is restricted to prevent accidents. Violators will be fined 300,000 KRW for the first offense, 500,000 KRW for the second offense, and 1,000,000 KRW for the third offense.
