Typhoon 'Khanun' Critical Period from 9 PM to Midnight... Closest Approach to Seoul
Weakened to a Tropical Depression by 6 PM Tomorrow
Typhoon Khanun, the 6th typhoon of the season, is expected to be closest to Seoul between 9 PM and midnight.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, Khanun passed 10 km north-northeast of Chungju, Chungbuk at 6 PM and is moving north-northwest at 20 km/h. Its speed has slowed down from 31 km/h two hours ago.

Khanun will pass 80 km north-northwest of Seoul at 3 AM on the 11th, pass 70 km south-southeast of Pyongyang at 6 AM and 30 km northwest of Pyongyang at noon, and weaken into a tropical depression at 70 km southeast of Sinuiju by 6 PM.

As of 6 PM, typhoon warnings have been issued for the central region and the Gyeongbuk area. Heavy rain is falling at a rate of 10 to 30 mm per hour in the central region, with very heavy rain centered in the northeastern part of Gangwon Yeongdong. Very strong winds with maximum instantaneous gusts of 20 m/s (70 km/h) are blowing along the coast and inland highlands.
