On the 10th, former Deputy Governor Kim issued a press release stating, "There was no recognition of any fact that I argued with former leader Gwak or threw a glass, and the police closed the case without charges in December last year, with the results received in April," adding, "Former leader Gwak filed a complaint based on clear falsehoods and actively asserted and spread these through statements, causing damage to my reputation as well as mental and material harm."
Accordingly, former Deputy Governor Kim urged, "I call on former leader Gwak to reveal the truth and publicly apologize," warning, "If such measures are not taken, I will hold her accountable through appropriate civil and criminal actions."
In response, former leader Gwak stated in a position paper, "During the dinner, a dispute arose over political issues including the ongoing matter of the parliamentary organization, and an agitated former Deputy Governor Kim threw a glass," and countered, "The police investigation result was a dismissal due to insufficient evidence under environmental factors, and interpreting it as a complete exoneration of violent behavior is absurd."
Former leader Gwak added, "As former Deputy Governor Kim himself revealed, demanding an unreasonable apology now, eight months after the case was closed in December last year, is nothing but a political act aimed at covering up his dishonor with an eye on running in next year's general election."
Previously, the two met for dinner on July 27 last year at a restaurant in Yongin City. However, former leader Gwak claimed, "Former Deputy Governor Kim threw a glass, causing a plate in front of me to break and shards to scatter," and filed a police complaint the next day accusing Kim of special assault and special intimidation.
Following the controversy, former Deputy Governor Kim announced his intention to resign just three days after taking office on July 31 last year and officially stepped down on August 9 of the same year.
