16 National Public Projects Selected in Four Fields Including Secondary Batteries
Ulsan City has secured an additional 135.9 billion KRW in national project funds for new industries in the first half of this year.
Ulsan City explained that it was selected for 16 national public projects in four new industry sectors: 4 cases in secondary batteries (38.1 billion KRW), 3 cases in semiconductors (27.8 billion KRW), 3 cases in bio (24.9 billion KRW), and 6 cases in 3D printing (45.1 billion KRW).
Looking at the public projects by sector, the secondary battery sector includes △ High-performance and high-safety electric vehicle prismatic secondary battery material and component demonstration center construction project (12.3 billion KRW), △ Regional innovation cluster development (15.6 billion KRW), and △ Support project for mid-sized companies-regional innovation alliance (6.4 billion KRW).
The semiconductor sector includes △ Support for semiconductor specialized graduate schools (18.5 billion KRW) and △ Advanced industry talent training bootcamp (7.5 billion KRW).
The bio sector includes △ Development project for stimulus-responsive plastic upcycling technology (20.7 billion KRW) and △ Development of circulating tumor DNA probe reagent in blood for early diagnosis of lung cancer (3.0 billion KRW), among others.
The 3D printing sector secured national funds in △ Material and component technology development project (25.6 billion KRW), △ 3D printing-based specialized workforce training project for nuclear power plants and energy components (5.8 billion KRW), and △ 3D printing convergence demonstration technology for in-house manufacturing of maintenance parts in operating ships (5.1 billion KRW).
In addition, Ulsan City is currently promoting national financial projects worth a total of 146 billion KRW to secure additional national funds.
With the full-scale promotion of the advanced secondary battery specialized complex designated last month and the acceleration of commercialization, it is expected that the scale of Ulsan City's national projects will further increase.
Kim Doo-gyeom, Mayor of Ulsan City, said, “Since the launch of the 8th term of the local government, we have focused our administrative capabilities on fostering new industries for the re-leap of the industrial city of Ulsan.
