On Day 2, a collaborative stage featuring Kim Deok-su’s Samulnori, Hannuri Yeonhuidan, and B-boy performances is scheduled
Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it is receiving great responses by actively operating various cultural, tourism, and experiential programs for the Jamboree participants visiting Nowon.
To help the participants recover from long hours of travel, the district prepared programs such as herbal foot baths, forest exercises, and extreme sports on the first day of activities at well-known healing spots in the district, including Deoreosoop, the Forest Healing Center, and Bulamsan Healing Town.
Leah, a participant who experienced the adventure facilities at Deoreosoop, said in an interview with a bright expression, “This is a wonderful opportunity to love Korea. I had never been to Seoul before, but I felt it is a beautiful city, and being here is fascinating.”
Rosaria, another participant who took part in the Bulamsan Forest Healing Center program, also responded positively to the programs provided by Nowon-gu, saying, “I was tired and exhausted, but coming here was healing. I am really enjoying my time here.”
The participants’ lunch was prepared at a district cafeteria that had passed hygiene inspections. After the meal, the district offered unique snacks such as handmade milk tea, handmade chocolate milk, handmade strawberry milk, and yakgwa (traditional Korean honey cookies), capturing the taste buds of the foreign participants.
The official schedule on the first day concluded with a visit to Hwarangdae Railroad Park. The Railroad Park has successfully transformed the history and poetic value of the Gyeongchun Line and the former Hwarangdae Station into cultural content, becoming a well-known landmark in the northeastern area.
The park is filled with various attractions, including the Time Museum using retired Mugunghwa-ho train cars, a caf? train where model trains deliver drinks, and Nowon Train Village, which intricately recreates the beautiful natural scenery of Switzerland and train models in miniature form.
After sunset, the Railroad Park transforms into a night light garden, featuring a Milky Way lighting display and a light tunnel, captivating the attention of the Jamboree participants with a spectacular light show.
Although the participants returned to their accommodations, a “surprise gift” from Nowon-gu was delivered for those reluctant to sleep just yet. K-Chicken, a snack only available in Korea, was provided to allow them to enjoy their day in Nowon with their peers. Traditional foods such as kimchijeon (kimchi pancake) and gamjajeon (potato pancake) were also prepared to accommodate participants with allergies or vegetarians.
Meanwhile, on the following day, the 10th, a more diverse program will continue. Participants will experience various cultures at the Buk Seoul Museum of Art, the Seoul Science Center, and the Nowon Astronomy and Space Science Center, and enjoy a visit to the skating rink to beat the heat. The finale will be decorated by ▲Kim Deok-su’s Samulnori ▲Hannuri Yeonhuidan. The approximately 90-minute stage will feature performances such as Mungut & Gilnori (ritual and street parade), Samdo Nongak rhythms, fan dance, and Panggut, presenting a meeting of tradition and modernity through a collaboration of Samulnori and B-boy performances.
Following the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s guidelines announced on the afternoon of the 9th, all schedules have been organized as indoor experiential programs. The district is closely monitoring the typhoon forecast due to the northward movement of KHNUN and is taking special care to ensure that the schedule runs smoothly despite weather conditions.
