More than 50 participants, including volunteer crime prevention squads, merchant associations, and exemplary drivers, took part in the campaign to focus patrols on crowded entertainment districts and crime-vulnerable areas around Sillim Station, aiming to promote the recovery of daily life.
The district is carrying out special crime prevention activities together with the police and residents to prevent copycat crimes related to the recent stabbing incident and to alleviate residents’ anxiety.
First, to respond effectively to dangerous situations, the district assigned dedicated personnel to monitor closed-circuit television (CCTV) around Sillim Station 24 hours a day. An intelligent surveillance system capable of detecting violence, collapses, and other incidents was installed on 32 CCTV cameras. Additionally, an extra team was deployed to operate the Safe Return Scout service, which accompanies people walking home at night.
The Gwanak Police Station has strengthened patrol activities against violent crimes, and the volunteer crime prevention squads composed of civilians conduct nightly patrols every day.
