Gochang-gun Imposes and Notifies 666 Million Won in Regular Resident Tax

Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, imposed and notified 66.6 million KRW in resident tax (individual and business office portions) on approximately 29,000 cases in August this year.

According to the county on the 9th, the resident tax (individual portion) is imposed on household heads and foreigners residing in Gochang-gun as of July 1, and the payment amount is 11,000 KRW including local education tax.

Due to the revision of the Local Tax Act in 2021, the resident tax (property portion) previously reported and paid by business owners in July and the resident tax (individual business owner and corporate equalization portion) imposed in August have been integrated into the August resident tax (business office portion), and the two tax amounts must be combined and reported and paid in August.

The taxpayers for the business office portion are individual business owners and corporations residing in Gochang-gun as of the tax base date (July 1), and the reporting and payment deadline is until the 31st of this month.

The reorganized business office portion resident tax is based on reporting in principle, but for taxpayer convenience, a resident tax (business office portion) payment notice with an estimated tax amount is temporarily sent by mail, and if the payment notice matches the tax status, payment of the amount stated on the notice within the deadline is considered as reporting.

Park Jin-sang, head of the county finance department, said, “If you did not receive the payment notice or if the amount on the notice differs from the actual amount, the business owner must check the status and electronically report and pay through WETAX, or directly report and pay at the county finance department or the town office.”

He added, “Resident tax is a valuable resource for regional development such as improving residents’ welfare, so please make sure to pay within the deadline.”
