Voluntary Recall of 14,057 Units Including Kia EV9 and Mercedes-Benz E300e 4MATIC
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 9th that manufacturing defects were found in 14,057 vehicles across 21 models produced or imported and sold by Kia Motors, Mercedes-Benz Korea, Jaguar Land Rover Korea, GM Korea, Volkswagen Group Korea, and others, prompting voluntary corrective actions (recalls).
A design error in the software of the rear-wheel drive motor control unit was identified in 8,394 EV9 vehicles manufactured and sold by Kia Motors.
In Mercedes-Benz Korea’s E 300 e 4MATIC, 2,695 units were found to have damaged wiring in the drive motor control unit, and 559 units across four models including the EQS 450+ were confirmed to have high-voltage electrical devices that did not meet safety standards.
Additionally, 82 units across two models including the C 300 4MATIC from the same company were found to have defects in the tightening of the 12V and 48V ground connection bolts.
In Land Rover’s The New Range Rover P530 LWB and three other models, 1,316 units were found to have damaged wiring in the rear lights and brakes.
Volkswagen’s ID.4, 338 units, showed excessive fuel consumption display, and economic compensation has been underway since the 4th.
GM Korea and GM’s Traverse, 271 units, and two other models including the Cadillac XT5, 21 units, were found to have manufacturing defects in internal transmission parts.
Tesla’s Model S and one other model, 176 units, had manufacturing defects in the front camera, while Model X and one other model, 97 units, had defects in the front seatbelt manufacturing.
Toyota’s Lexus NX450h+, 108 units, was found to have a circuit design error in the voltage converter.
Vehicles subject to recall can receive free repairs at the official service centers of each manufacturer and seller. If repairs were made at the owner’s expense, compensation can be requested from the manufacturer.

The Ministry operates an automobile recall center that collects and analyzes information on manufacturing defects in vehicles. By entering the vehicle number and chassis number on the website, owners can check whether their vehicle is subject to recall and view detailed information on the manufacturing defects.
