On the 5th (local time), the San Diego Police Department released CCTV footage on Facebook showing a suspect stealing an expensive bicycle from a garage in a residential area. According to the police, the stolen item was a black 2019 model three-speed bicycle from Electra. This bicycle is traded on the market for around $1,300 (approximately 1.7 million KRW).
The video shows the suspect entering a garage with the door open, stealing the bicycle, and fleeing.

As the man in the video tries to pull the bicycle out of the garage, a Golden Retriever runs out of the house wagging its tail.
The man turns back, and the dog runs up to him as if happy, wagging its tail even more vigorously. The man pets the dog for several minutes and even touches foreheads with it, saying, "I like you too."
With his guard down, the man even says to the dog, "Where is your dad?" and "You shouldn't be opening the garage door."

As the thief pets the dog, the dog seems even more excited and lies down on the floor, showing its belly. Dogs showing their belly to people is known to signify 'trust.'
The Retriever licked the suspect’s face, and the suspect smiled as if tickled. When the suspect took the bicycle and left again, the Retriever followed him, and the video ends.
The San Diego Police described the thief as a white male and provided details of his appearance, urging the public for help in identifying the suspect.
After the video was shared, netizens reacted with comments such as, "The owner must have laughed in disbelief," and "Good thing the dog didn’t run away with the thief," while some sided with the Golden Retriever, saying, "Maybe the dog cleverly kept the thief there to get caught on camera."
Meanwhile, the Golden Retriever breed is known for its low suspicion and excellent friendliness toward people and other animals.
