Gwangju Nam-gu Breaks Ground on Bangnim 2-dong Eoullim Center for Cooperative Childcare and Communication Facilities
Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is actively promoting an urban regeneration project to establish basic living infrastructure, including cultural and welfare facilities, in the Bangnim 2-dong area, and has embarked on the construction of the Eoullim Center, a hub for communal childcare and village communication.
According to Nam-gu on the 7th, construction of the Bangnim 2-dong Eoullim Center has been in full swing since July. Nam-gu plans to build the facility by March next year, investing approximately 3.7 billion KRW in the project.
The Bangnim 2-dong Eoullim Center will be built right next to the Bangnim 2-dong Administrative Welfare Center, considering accessibility as a top priority from the site selection stage, since it will be a facility used by many residents.
This Eoullim Center will serve as a resident complex community space focused on culture and welfare, constructed as a four-story building above ground.
The overall exterior of the building boasts a refreshing openness with extensive use of glass windows throughout, and is designed to make efficient use of leftover spaces such as outdoor terraces, rooftop, and bicycle racks.
The basement level 1 will be designated as a parking lot, while the second floor will house the village communication room and communal childcare care center, which are the core functions of this building.
Additionally, the third floor will accommodate club rooms and a lifelong learning center, and the fourth floor will be filled with a history and culture exhibition hall and a multipurpose auditorium.
Nam-gu plans to complete the construction of the Eoullim Center by March next year, followed by interior work, and open it to residents starting June of the same year.
