Bosch explained that LG Display has shown excellent performance by proving differentiated technological capabilities across all automotive display fields including OLED, thorough quality control, and stable supply capacity while maintaining a strategic partnership for over 10 years since 2012. Bosch especially highly evaluated LG Display’s leading role in projects that newly install automotive OLEDs in next-generation models of premium car brands.
LG Display supplies automotive displays used in digital clusters (instrument panels), center fascia (central control units), and more to global top-tier automotive parts companies and automakers, including Bosch. In the premium automotive display market of 10 inches or larger, LG Display has held the number one market share (by sales) worldwide for five consecutive years since 2018.
Based on diverse and differentiated technological competitiveness encompassing Tandem OLED and high-end LCD, LG Display plans to focus on expanding sales and orders to further strengthen its position as the world’s number one company. Starting this year, it will begin mass production of the ‘2nd generation Tandem OLED,’ which improves the efficiency of organic light-emitting devices and enhances luminance (screen brightness) and lifespan, thereby widening the technological gap. LG Display’s automotive P-OLED (Plastic OLED) combines Tandem OLED with a flexible plastic substrate. Automotive P-OLED reduces power consumption by 60% and weight by 80% compared to LCDs, making it optimal for the electric vehicle era.
