CaseMartpia and Giwoon Industry Move into Daegu National Water Industry Cluster
Attracting 38 Companies, 68% Sales Rate
On the 3rd, Daegu City completed contracts with two companies to move into the National Water Industry Cluster complex within the Daegu National Industrial Complex: ‘Case Smartpia,’ a company specializing in smart mirroring services, and Giwoon Industry, a specialized manufacturer of agricultural PE pipes.
These two promising SMEs, possessing advanced technologies, will establish manufacturing facilities and promote their businesses within the National Water Industry Cluster, contributing to regional economic revitalization and job creation by investing 12.3 billion KRW and creating 77 new jobs. Daegu City plans to provide administrative and policy support necessary for sales growth and overseas expansion through full-cycle support for water companies.
Founded in 2016, Case Smartpia is a regional ICT industry-academia cooperation company with expertise in remote metering. As Daegu’s water company that developed the nation’s first remote metering equipment for water supply, it holds various technologies in the IoT-based remote metering field.
Notably, since Daegu City introduced smart remote metering using an IoT dedicated network for the first time nationwide in 2017, the company has been developing technology to provide accurate data on indoor leaks by utilizing real-time metering data.
Established in 1996, Giwoon Industry is a company specializing in the production of agricultural PE pipes located in Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province. Taking advantage of the opportunity to lease space in the National Water Industry Cluster complex, it plans to enter the smart farm irrigation material control system sector.
To this end, Giwoon Industry will invest 8.8 billion KRW to relocate its headquarters and expand its production line on a 12,647.8㎡ site within the National Water Industry Cluster, increasing new hires. The factory is scheduled to break ground in September and be completed by May next year.
These two companies are expected to further enhance the value of the cluster by strengthening water industry competitiveness through communication and collaboration with various companies within the National Water Industry Cluster and active joint research and technology development among companies.
Thus, the National Water Industry Cluster complex (464,000㎡), which opened in September 2019 with a national budget investment of 240.9 billion KRW, has now attracted 38 water companies with the addition of these two new companies, raising the occupancy rate to 68%.
