Incheon Office of Education to Implement Personalized AI Learning Management System for Students Starting Second Semester
The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 3rd that it will officially launch 'Incheon I-Saem,' a personalized AI learning management system for students utilizing artificial intelligence, starting from the new semester in August.
Incheon I-Saem is a system that supports individualized education and assessment for students and provides customized learning processes for their weaknesses by utilizing knowledge tracing AI based on transformer neural networks that surpass deep learning. It supports various functions to facilitate not only students' self-directed learning but also teachers' use of learning guidance at school.
For elementary students, Incheon I-Saem offers six subjects?Korean, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Basic Mathematics?to all 6th-grade students this year, linked with the distribution of laptops, and plans to expand to 4th grade by 2025. For middle and high school students, Incheon I-Saem provides AI courseware for mathematics to support academic improvement, and next year, a foreign language learning management system service will also begin.
Teachers can utilize AI-based level-specific assessment functions embedded in the LMS (Learning Management System) before, during, and after classes according to their purposes. It diagnoses in advance whether a student is ready to learn a specific concept, assesses understanding during learning, and checks the overall comprehension level individually after learning is completed. This reduces the time and effort required for student learning management by more than half while strengthening individualized student guidance.
The Office of Education operated 20 pilot classes in June to apply Incheon I-Saem in school settings and addressed system issues. Incheon I-Saem can be accessed through Incheon’s digital education integrated platform, Incheon MOOC (i-MOOC), and is available free of charge to all Incheon students.
