Ministry of Employment and Labor-led Job Disclosure System Sector... 80 Million KRW Budget for Financial Incentive Project

Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 2nd that it won the ‘Excellence Award’ in the job announcement system category for two consecutive years and received 80 million KRW in financial incentive project funds at the ‘2023 National Local Government Job Awards Ceremony’ hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor held at the Sejong Convention Center.

The ‘National Local Government Job Awards’ is a comprehensive evaluation of job policies conducted annually by the Ministry of Employment and Labor to encourage excellent local governments and share job policies by assessing efforts and achievements in job creation among local governments nationwide.

In this evaluation, Muan-gun achieved results by focusing on governance (collaborative administration), organic cooperation with job-related organizations, strengthening solidarity among the public, private, industrial, and academic sectors, and seeking connections with neighboring local governments. It selected and focused on four core areas: youth, future industries, agriculture and fisheries, and customized sectors for different social classes.

In particular, the successful hosting of a job fair through cooperation with local governments in the southwestern region of Jeollanam-do received high praise, earning the highest rating among basic local governments.

Despite employment crises such as the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and an aging population, the county created nearly 18,000 jobs, reaching 184% of the 2022 target in the direct job creation of 3,996 people, vocational skill development training for 2,249 people, employment services for 10,937 people, employment incentives for 1,108 people, and startup support and job infrastructure for 533 people under the job target announcement system of the 7th local government administration.

Among key employment indicators, the number of employed persons increased by 108% from the previous year to 49,000, the number of regular workers reached about 110% at 22,000, and the number of employment insurance subscribers was about 102% at 16,400, steadily increasing quality jobs.

Additionally, Muan-gun plans to continuously promote projects to improve working conditions, including expanding the foundation for improving job quality through the revision of 12 related ordinances and the establishment of 3 new ordinances, the construction of the Samhyang Industrial Complex Multipurpose Cultural Center, the construction of dormitories for agricultural workers, additional establishment of the Together Care Center, safety inspections of small construction sites, and workplace education for non-discrimination.

Furthermore, in the emergency job performance report, the achievements and reflections made while concluding the final year of the comprehensive plan of the 7th local government administration and the improvements reflected in the plan for the 8th local government administration received great acclaim from the judges.

Governor Kim San said, “Winning the Excellence Award in the National Local Government Job Awards for two consecutive years is a result created together by continuous organic cooperation not only with the central government, Jeollanam-do, and neighboring local governments but also with local industries and academia related to jobs in Muan-gun, following last year.” He emphasized, “We will continue to strengthen governance for regional job creation and implement unique job policies exclusive to Muan-gun.”

He also said, “The 8th local government administration will be a year of practical achievements, bearing the fruits of many projects carried out so far. Through the completion of the aviation-specialized industrial complex, we will establish a virtuous cycle system including aviation infrastructure and the revitalization of Muan International Airport, activate the youth community and local economy with the construction of the Muan Multipurpose Cultural Center, and become a center for future food industries and advanced agricultural workforce training by creating the K-Food Convergence Industrial Complex and Advanced Agricultural Complex.”
