Jindo-gun, Full Effort to Collect Local Tax Arrears by Year-End
Strong Delinquent Tax Measures and Administrative Sanctions Implemented, Including Vehicle License Plate Seizure and Property Seizure
Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 2nd that it will make every effort to collect local tax arrears by the end of the year to expand local tax revenue.
The county is actively promoting and guiding the payment of last year's local tax arrears and this year's regularly imposed local taxes to ensure they are paid within the deadline.
Since local taxes are an important independent revenue source for local governments, habitual and chronic tax delinquents may face active and prompt delinquency measures such as administrative sanctions including △property seizure △vehicle license plate confiscation △public disclosure of names.
The county is leading efforts to reduce arrears through various collection activities such as focused settlement of automobile tax arrears, suspension of uncollectible amounts, and post-management.
In particular, the towns and townships will operate a special settlement period for carry-over arrears until next month, organize collection teams to strengthen on-site investigations of delinquents and encourage payments, and hold collection strategy meetings.
A representative from the Tax Accounting Division of Jindo-gun said, “Local taxes are valuable resources used for the development of Jindo-gun and the welfare enhancement of its residents. We will do our best to foster a sound taxpaying culture and collect chronic high-amount and habitual arrears.”
