SK Shieldus announced on the 1st that it has appointed Hong Won-pyo as the new CEO (Vice Chairman). The SK Shieldus board of directors appointed former Samsung SDS CEO Hong Won-pyo as the new CEO on the same day. CEO Hong is recognized as an IT expert with extensive knowledge and know-how in the information and communication sector and software platform field, as well as a professional manager equipped with capabilities in discovering new industries and global business operations.SK Shieldus explained that CEO Hong is the right person to lead the company beyond the domestic market as a 'global total security company.'
New CEO Hong has served at Bell Labs in the United States, as an executive director at KT, vice president and president at Samsung Electronics, and from 2015 to 2021, as president and CEO of Samsung SDS. During his tenure at Samsung Electronics, he led the smartphone business to become a global leading business through differentiated global market strategies. He also discovered and nurtured new IT services based on advanced technologies such as smart factories, cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), big data analytics, and blockchain, growing Samsung SDS into a world-class IT solutions and platform company. He also possesses experience and expertise in mobile security and cloud security, achieving results in the global market by conducting mobile security business for public institutions in developed countries.
