Fire Agency Announces 'R&D Ideas' Contest for Firefighting Innovation
R&D Project Idea Competition Held
The National Fire Agency announced on the 1st that it will hold the "2nd National Fire Agency Research and Development (R&D) Project Idea Competition" to secure fire safety and promote technological innovation across various sectors of our society.
They are collecting a wide range of ideas covering all areas of fire safety, from solutions to improve issues experienced at emergency scenes, measures to strengthen organizational response capabilities in line with changing disaster environments, to fostering the fire industry.
Idea submissions will be accepted until the end of this month, and a committee of about eight experts from various fields including National Fire Agency officials, industry, academia, and research institutes will evaluate the entries. Selected outstanding ideas will be prioritized as National Fire Agency R&D projects in 2025.
The idea competition is open to all firefighters nationwide, and submissions can be made by completing the "2025 Fire Safety Technology Demand Survey Proposal Request" and submitting it through the National Petition System under the "National Fire Agency Research and Development (R&D) Project Idea Competition Call for Proposals."

Im Won-seop, Planning and Finance Officer of the National Fire Agency, stated, "R&D projects that reflect the needs of the field will serve as the foundation for technological innovation and development that can practically benefit fire organizations and related industries," adding, "We hope to gather diverse R&D ideas that reflect the demands of fire scenes."
