Jeonju Boreum School Passes Central Investment Review
Former Jarimwon Site... Opening in March 2027
A special school will be established on the site of the former Jeonju Jarimwon.
On the 31st, according to the Jeollabuk-do Office of Education (Superintendent Seo Geo-seok), the '(tentative name) Jeonju Boreum School Establishment,' a vocational-focused special school, has passed the Ministry of Education's central investment review.
Jeonju Boreum School will be established with a total project cost of 38 billion KRW, consisting of 18 classes and accommodating 132 students, aiming to open in March 2027.
Jeonju Boreum School is a vocational-focused special school for students with disabilities, specializing its curriculum into the Human Services Department composed of a car wash room, laundry room, and office support room; the Food Service Department composed of a barista room, bakery room, and home cooking room; and the Agro-Life Industry Department composed of a product packaging and cooking room, smart agriculture room, and food processing room.
In particular, the former Jarimwon area is planned to house the Jeonju City Comprehensive Job Center for Persons with Disabilities, the Jeonbuk Province Comprehensive Support Center for Persons with Disabilities, and the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled Employment Education and Research Institute.
Through organic cooperation with these institutions, it is attracting attention as the nation's first employment-welfare-education linked model providing distinctive vocational education to special education students.
With the establishment of Jeonju Boreum School in this area, students from Deokjin-gu, Jeonju, will be relieved from the inconvenience of commuting to special schools located in Wansan-gu, and it is expected to contribute to guaranteeing educational choice for students with disabilities.
