At around 2:06 PM on the 31st, a chemical storage tank exploded outside a chemical manufacturing plant in Seoknam-dong, Seo-gu, Incheon.
There were no casualties from the incident, but chlorine, sodium chlorate, and sodium hydroxide?chemical substances designated for disposal and stored in a 15㎥ tank?leaked outside. These chemicals are classified as hazardous substances due to their high risk when exposed to humans.
The fire authorities responded to a report stating "an explosion sound was heard at the factory," arriving at the scene to collect the leaked chemicals and take safety measures. They plan to investigate the cause of the accident by questioning those involved at the site.
Meanwhile, following the accident, Seo-gu, the local government jurisdiction, sent safety messages to residents urging them to "keep windows closed, refrain from going outside, and for vehicles to take detours."
