ViewMagine Demonstrates 'AI Solution' for Ukraine Mine Detection in Liverpool, UK
ViewMajin, an AI vision solution specialist company led by CEO Kim Do-yeop, has introduced a mine detection solution based on artificial intelligence (AI) image analysis technology as a solution to the difficulties caused by the widespread scattering of landmines across Ukraine.
ViewMajin announced on the 31st that it participated in the ‘OXYGEN SUMMIT 2023’ held in Liverpool, UK, to build smart cities in Ukraine, demonstrating autonomous drone flight technology and AI image analysis-based mine detection solutions. At the event, CEO Kim Do-yeop showcased the mine detection solution in the presence of stakeholders including Member of Parliament Andriy Nikolayenko.
ViewMajin’s mine detection solution identifies mine locations through AI vision analysis of images captured by autonomous drones and provides information about mine hazard areas via an app. It also includes a feature that collects photo information from users who have taken pictures of mine areas to the cloud, analyzes it, and sets or notifies hazardous zones accordingly.
Member of Parliament Andriy Nikolayenko, who attended the mine detection solution demonstration, commented, “If the mine detection solution and its functions are integrated into Ukraine’s mobile government platform ‘Diia’ app, it will help protect the safety of Ukrainian citizens.” The Diia app is an administrative and life-support platform used by 71% of Ukrainians, serving various citizen-related fields such as digital IDs, business registration, vehicle registration and insurance, public services, and construction.
The minefield created by the war in Ukraine that broke out last year is estimated to cover 250,000 km², which is larger than the entire area of the Korean Peninsula. Therefore, during his visit to Ukraine on the 15th (local time), President Yoon Suk-yeol discussed humanitarian support such as mine detectors with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a summit, highlighting the growing importance of cooperation between Korea and Ukraine for mine clearance.
The ‘OXYGEN SUMMIT 2023,’ where the demonstration and presentation took place, was held over three days from the 26th to the 28th (local time). It is an event hosted by the UK’s World Smart Cities Forum (WSCF) and the Ukrainian government (Ministry of Communities and Territories Development) since April 2021 to promote smart city construction projects in Ukraine.
The event saw large attendance from government, local authorities, academia, businesses, and investors from countries including Ukraine, the UK, and Vietnam. From Korea, about ten companies and organizations including Korea Water Resources Corporation and POSCO International participated under the leadership of the Korea-Ukraine New Building Association (KUNBA).
On the 28th (local time), ViewMajin participated in the ‘Tech Companies Pitching Session’ held at the event, demonstrating its AI vision solution and introducing its image analysis technology. ViewMajin is pioneering various application fields such as building safety diagnosis and mine detection through its ‘AI Vision Solution,’ which combines autonomous drone flight and AI-based image analysis technology.
