Jeon Seong-su, District Mayor, “Hope Everyone Can Cool Off the Summer Heat at Water Playgrounds Throughout the Neighborhood, Including Seoripul Water Playgrounds”
Seocho-gu (District Mayor Jeon Seong-su) provides neighborhood summer retreat spaces where children on summer vacation can cool down from the heat. From medium to large water playgrounds to nature-friendly water parks and ground fountains, various water play areas catering to different tastes are operated throughout the district.
First, the district operates two “Seoripul Water Playgrounds” until August 20 at Banpo Sports Complex (15-2 Banpo-dong) and Yongheori Neighborhood Park (1324-1 Seocho-dong).
Reopened last year after COVID-19, the Seoripul Water Playgrounds have been highly popular among residents by being located in easily accessible places such as parks and sports complexes near residential areas.
These sites feature swimming pools, water playgrounds, slides, as well as shower rooms, parasols, sunshades, and shade tents, providing spaces for rest and relaxation.
Additionally, the district manages water quality at least twice daily and deploys 6 to 13 safety management personnel, including certified lifeguards and nurses, to operate the facilities safely and comfortably. Banpo Sports Complex hosts a large water playground, while Yongheori Neighborhood Park has a medium-sized water playground.
The facilities operate daily from 10 AM to 6 PM until August 20. To maintain children’s body temperature and ensure a safe and clean environment, the playgrounds operate for 50 minutes followed by a 10-minute break. Operations pause briefly from 1 PM to 2 PM for facility maintenance.
Usage fees are 2,000 KRW for the water playground at Yongheori Neighborhood Park and 3,000 KRW for the one at Banpo Sports Complex.
Moreover, the district operates ground fountains in six parks until September 30, where children can momentarily forget the heat and enjoy summer retreats. These are installed in local parks including ▲Yangjae Neighborhood Park (311 Yangjae-dong) ▲Myeongdal Neighborhood Park (1313-17 Seocho-dong) ▲Sinbanpo Neighborhood Park (16-8 Banpo-dong) ▲Dwitbeol Children’s Park (821-1 Bangbae-dong) ▲Songdong Neighborhood Park (777 Umyeon-dong) ▲Solmal Small Park (793 Umyeon-dong).
Meanwhile, the Yangjaecheon Swimming Pool, whose opening was temporarily postponed due to maintenance after the recent monsoon, has completed its refurbishment and partially reopened on the 28th. This facility includes a children’s pool 0.5 meters deep and 72 meters long, and a 125-meter diameter lazy river pool, creating a space where visitors can enjoy nature.
