Sunchang-gun Announces 'Population and Youth Policy Ideas' Contest Until September 1

Sunchang-gun, Jeonbuk Province, is holding a contest for ‘Sunchang-gun Population and Youth Policy Ideas’ to actively respond to local extinction and population decline.

According to the county on the 27th, this contest was prepared to gather fresh and diverse ideas to discover population revitalization projects in Sunchang that residents can feel, by spreading consensus and raising interest in the local population decline issue.

The contest theme includes all areas related to population policies, such as population and youth policies suitable for the characteristics of Sunchang-gun: ▲ responding to low birthrate and aging society ▲ ways for youth to settle in the local community ▲ expanding the living population ▲ other measures to enhance population vitality.

Anyone in the nation can participate in the contest, and those who wish to enter can submit their entries via email to the person in charge, visit in person, or send by mail by September 1.

Submitted proposals will be judged on four criteria including creativity and efficiency, and six excellent works will be finally selected. Prizes will be awarded as follows: one grand prize winner per category with 500,000 KRW, two excellence award winners each with 300,000 KRW, and three encouragement award winners each with 200,000 KRW.

Despite the overall population decline in Jeonbuk, various population policies have shown effects, resulting in continuous population inflow over the past six months, increasing the total population by 122 compared to the previous year. This is regarded as a noteworthy achievement during a period of serious population decline due to low birthrate and aging.

County Governor Choi Young-il said, “I hope many fresh and creative ideas will be proposed through this contest,” and added, “I hope that essential customized population policies will be discovered, serving as an opportunity for Sunchang to take a step forward into a more vibrant future.”
