E1, First Publication of Sustainability Management Report
On the 27th, E1 announced the publication of the ‘2022 Sustainability Management Report,’ which contains its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management strategy and key activity achievements.
This report is E1’s first sustainability management report, published to transparently disclose the process and results of ESG management implementation and actively communicate with stakeholders.
E1 conducted a ‘double materiality assessment’ that considers both the impact of corporate management activities on the environment and society and the impact of external environmental and social factors on the company’s financial status, selecting key ESG topics and including management plans for each topic in the report. For high-priority items such as ▲climate crisis response ▲transition to low-carbon business ▲strengthening safety, environment, and health management, the report provides in-depth descriptions of goals and efforts.
As part of the global response to the climate crisis, E1 calculated greenhouse gas emissions, identified as the biggest cause of climate change, and conducted voluntary verification. In particular, it solidified the foundation for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by calculating and disclosing not only direct and indirect emissions (Scope 1 and 2) but also other indirect emissions ‘Scope 3’ generated throughout the company’s value chain.
Strategies and execution plans for new business initiatives such as renewable energy generation, hydrogen, and electric vehicle charging were established to lead the transition to a low-carbon business. Additionally, achievements in strengthening safety, environment, and health management, including the establishment of safety, environment, and health management policies and systems, were disclosed.
