A man in his 20s who went on a backpacking trip to Japan has been out of contact for over 40 days, prompting local police to launch an investigation.
Local Japanese police received a missing person report for Yoon Se-jun (27) and have been conducting a public search since the 16th of last month to find his whereabouts, KBS reported on the 26th.

Yoon, a social worker, entered Osaka, Japan on May 9th with a tourist visa for a backpacking trip before changing jobs. He informed his family of a one-month trip and left, but suddenly disappeared after exchanging messages with his sister as the planned time was nearing. His family stated that they have been unable to contact him for 49 days since then.
Yoon's sister, Yoon Se-young, said, "When I asked his friends 'When was the last time you contacted him?' they said I was the last person to contact him." The last confirmed location of Yoon was a convenience store near his accommodation in Wakayama Prefecture.

Local police deployed a helicopter for the search, and Korean police are also tracking his card usage and other activities, but his whereabouts remain unknown.
Yoon's family has revealed specific personal details and requested that anyone who sees him report it. Born in 1996, Yoon is 175 cm tall, has a slender build, and has a small scar on his right cheek. Tips can be reported to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Consular Call Center and other relevant authorities.
The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Osaka stated, "We are conducting the search with the possibility of an accident in mind."
