Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that ahead of the peak summer heat, it will operate three free water playgrounds across Songpa-gu where residents can enjoy exciting water play.
On July 29, the new ‘Haha Hoho Olympic Water Playground (424 Olympic-ro, Songpa-gu)’ will open at the Peace Plaza inside Olympic Park.
The 3,250㎡ ‘Haha Hoho Olympic Water Playground’ features five pools including ▲a 50?60 cm deep pool for toddlers ▲a 70?80 cm deep children’s pool and lazy river, as well as ▲air bounces ▲slides and various water play facilities suitable for children aged 3 to 12 years old.
Convenience facilities such as a snack bar, 60 Mongolian tents, changing rooms, and a first aid room are provided around the water playground. Additionally, a ▲photo zone and ▲tourism souvenir promotion booth featuring Songpa-gu’s cute character ‘Haha Hoho’ will add to the fun.
On the opening day, July 29, the start of the water playground will be marked by exciting performances from the district’s boys and girls choir and youth symphony orchestra, along with an opening performance with children from 10 a.m. During the opening weekend, children’s environmental experience classes such as ▲cotton candy bicycle generators and ▲solar-powered car making will also be held.
The ‘Haha Hoho Olympic Water Playground’ will operate for 20 days from July 29 to August 17, open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. free of charge. From 12 p.m., there will be a one-hour break for water quality management and facility maintenance. For safety, 10 to 20 safety managers will be stationed daily on weekdays and weekends.
Also, the ‘Seongnaecheon Water Playground,’ which opened last month, has been transformed into a more convenient and comfortable facility and will operate until August 31. The water playground, built along the natural ecological stream ‘Seongnaecheon,’ is 160 meters long, 3?5 meters wide, and 30?80 cm deep, using 2,000 tons of subway discharge water to provide clean water where children can safely enjoy water play.
This year, reflecting residents’ opinions, 13 Mongolian tents and portable toilets have been added as convenience facilities, and a trick art zone and water slide were newly installed to increase fun. Operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., free for all ages and genders.
In Wirye-dong, the long-awaited ‘Wirye Lake Park Water Playground (491 Geoyeodong, Songpa-gu)’ opened on July 21.
The ‘Wirye Lake Park Water Playground,’ introduced for the first time this year, covers 1,900㎡ and includes water tunnels and combined play equipment. The water depth is set below 30 cm so children can safely enjoy water play without life jackets. It also features a scenic waterfall and waterside landscaping, with convenience facilities such as shade tents, changing rooms, and showers in the deck rest area.
It operates three days a week (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. until August 20. Since local residents have long awaited this facility, it will be open daily from July 25 to August 6 to allow many children to enjoy water play. It will be closed on Mondays for facility inspection and cleaning.
