‘Happiness for 2,000 Won’ Dongjak Kids Cafe Daebang-dong Branch Opens
Yongmasan Concept Climbing and Care Staff Assigned…Providing Safe Play and Care Services
Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Ilha) announced the opening of the second Seoul-style kids cafe in Dongjak-gu, ‘Dongjak Kids Cafe Daebang-dong Branch,’ on the 25th.
The first Seoul-style ‘Dongjak Kids Cafe’ was opened last November in Sangdo 3-dong (16, Sangdoro 15ga-gil, 3rd floor).
‘Dongjak Kids Cafe’ is an indoor children’s playground where kids can run and play freely regardless of external conditions such as weather or fine dust. It is especially popular for lowering economic burdens with affordable prices and guaranteeing every child’s right to play.
The usage fee is 2,000 won per individual, 1,000 won per group, and free for guardians.
The newly opened Dongjak Kids Cafe Daebang-dong Branch (385-2 Daebang-dong) spans 288㎡ (about 87 pyeong), larger than the first branch in Sangdo 3-dong (about 192㎡). It was created by remodeling the 4th floor facility of the Dongjak-gu Childcare Comprehensive Support Center, which was previously operated as a communal childcare room.
Main facilities include climbing equipment themed after ‘Yongmasan’ in Daebang-dong, an indoor jungle gym, and various physical play equipment. An experiential media art play device projecting sketched drawings onto a screen has also been installed. Additionally, separate play areas for infants, nursing rooms, and restrooms are provided for convenience.
Furthermore, three staff members, including care workers certified with childcare teacher qualifications, operational staff, and facility safety managers, will be assigned at all times to provide safe play and care services.
The facility is intended for children under 5 years old and their guardians, operating three sessions daily (120 minutes per session) from Tuesday to Sunday. Each session can accommodate up to 15 people for two hours, and reservations can be made through the ‘Seoul Our Neighborhood Care Portal’ website.
Dongjak-gu plans to open more than 15 Dongjak Kids Cafes by 2026, establishing at least one Dongjak Kids Cafe in each neighborhood.
