Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, arranged a communication session with all employees to create a ‘workplace where people want to work.’
On the 25th, Mayor Choi held the ‘All Staff Communication Meeting’ at the annex auditorium of the district office. The meeting was conducted in two parts with the attendance of Mayor Choi Ho-kwon, seven heads of departments and offices, and 31 employees from various job categories. In the first part, the discussion results from previous communication meetings by job category were shared, and in the second part, the mayor and employees engaged in a one-on-one wise question and wise answer (현문현답) session.
Amid a situation where the MZ generation leaving public service has reached an all-time high, decreasing the attractiveness of public office and increasing personnel-related difficulties among employees, the district prepared this session to sincerely communicate with employees, resolve their concerns, and genuinely convey the personnel philosophy and direction of the 8th elected administration.
During the meeting, employees freely expressed their opinions on issues such as increasing the number of higher-level positions due to promotion bottlenecks, objective and rational performance evaluations, transfers reflecting the characteristics of each job category, practical responses to malicious civil complaints, and improvement of rigid organizational culture. This was followed by in-depth Q&A and discussions.
Mayor Choi Ho-kwon listened attentively to the vivid voices of employees and built consensus. He emphasized his belief that by reflecting employees’ opinions and improving various working conditions, the organization will develop into a better workplace where people want to work.
Furthermore, Mayor Choi pledged to strive to operate official communication channels that can closely monitor and resolve employees’ difficulties and challenges. He also promised to actively work on fair personnel management based on performance and integrity standards that most employees can accept, as well as enhancing welfare benefits to reward employees’ hard work.
