On the 25th, Governor Kim posted on his social media, saying, "There was a tragic news recently about a Marine Corps soldier who lost his life," and emphasized, "Young soldiers deployed in disaster situations should not be exposed to danger without any measures."
He continued, "Gyeonggi Province has the largest number of military personnel serving in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps," adding, "We have received great help through various civilian support activities, and I have expressed my gratitude to the military authorities whenever I had the opportunity."
However, he stated, "Safety must come first even in disaster support activities," and promised, "Through the 'Military Cooperation Officer,' we will actively communicate with the military authorities to establish practical safety measures such as supply support, safety rule preparation, and education. If necessary, we will also promote the enactment of related ordinances."
He also said, "We will establish safety measures not only for military civilian support but also for overall disaster support activities such as volunteering," and introduced, "Yesterday, the Gyeonggi Provincial Council's People Power Party issued a statement urging the establishment of measures to protect the safety of military personnel during disaster site civilian support."
