Mokpo Coast Guard Issues 'Advisory' for Safety Accident Risk Forecast System During Typhoon Approach
Mokpo Coast Guard Station (Chief Kim Hae-cheol) announced on the 25th that it will issue a "Caution" warning under the Coastal Safety Accident Risk Forecast System for 100 days until October 31 in Mokpo City and the surrounding areas of Muan, Hampyeong, Yeonggwang, Sinan, and Jindo counties due to the approaching typhoon.
The Coastal Safety Accident Risk Forecast System is a system that informs the public in advance about the risk of safety accidents occurring in coastal waters to prevent accidents. It is issued in three stages?Interest, Caution, and Warning?depending on the severity.
According to the Mokpo Coast Guard, there have been a total of 19 typhoons affecting the area over the past five years, and this year, frequent heavy rainfall is expected due to global warming.
During this period, the Coast Guard plans to strengthen patrols on sea and land, focusing on high-risk areas such as coastal waters, ports, harbors, and rocky shores. They will also intensify publicity and safety guidance activities through local governments, branch offices, electronic signboards, and announcements to prevent coastal safety accidents.
