The Changwon National Industrial Complex, which will mark its 50th anniversary next year, is seeking development plans with industry, academia, and research stakeholders to prepare for the next 50 years of the future.
On the 24th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the 2nd meeting of the ‘Changwon National Industrial Complex 50th Anniversary Development Council’ at the City Hall Citizen Hall to discuss matters related to the commemorative event.

About 20 industry, academia, and research experts attended, including Gu Ja-cheon, chairman of the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry and chair of the Development Council, Park Min-won, professor at Changwon National University, and Lim Jin-young, chairman of the Future Managers Club.
At the meeting, there were presentations on ▲ Progress report on the 50th anniversary commemorative project of Changwon National Industrial Complex (Lee Sang-moon, Director of Future Strategy Division, Changwon City) ▲ Status and challenges of Changwon National Industrial Complex for the next 50 years (Lee Yoon-seok, Head of Future Industry Planning Team, Changwon Industry Promotion Agency) ▲ Direction for spatial reorganization of Changwon National Industrial Complex (Kim Ki-hong, Head of Industrial Complex Innovation Planning Team, Korea Industrial Complex Corporation), followed by various ideas and opinions from the council members on the development direction for the next 50 years of the Changwon National Industrial Complex.
In the subsequent open discussion, they discussed cooperation in various fields such as fostering advanced industries, creating future-oriented jobs, improving the environment, and coexistence with the local community to ensure that the Changwon National Industrial Complex can grow into a world-class industrial complex even after 50 years.
Hong Nam-pyo, mayor of Changwon Special City, said, “I thank the Development Council members who attended this meeting to jointly consider and discuss the various challenges facing the Changwon National Industrial Complex,” and added, “We will accelerate preparations for establishing a vision for the next 50 years and for the successful hosting of the event.”

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the designation of the Changwon National Industrial Complex, which led Changwon’s past, the city plans to hold a commemorative event scheduled for April next year, including the proclamation of a future vision and awards for meritorious persons, and will make all-out efforts to hold a substantial commemorative event through subsidiary events such as job and startup linkage events, a citizen festival celebrating companies, and an industrial expo.
