Sogongyeon "Tmap Should Stop Cash-Based Promotions for Substitute Driving"
T map Mobility (T map) has been accused of encroaching on the small business owners' designated driver market.
The Korea Federation of Micro Enterprise Associations (KFMEA) stated in a commentary on the 24th, "We strongly condemn T map's behavior of encroaching on the designated driver market, which the Win-Win Growth Committee has designated as a 'small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) suitable industry,' by excessively issuing cash promotions."
Designated driving was designated as an SME suitable industry last year. Nevertheless, KFMEA claims that T map is ignoring the committee's recommendations and causing harm to small business owners. In June last year, T map entered this market by acquiring 100% of the shares of Logisoft, which holds a 70% market share in the designated driver market, for 54.7 billion KRW. At that time, T map was criticized by the small business community for circumventing the committee's recommendation that large corporations should not expand their business through mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
KFMEA pointed out, "T map's reckless cash promotions may seem beneficial to customers in the short term, but if all small and micro businesses disappear and a 'large corporation-centered monopoly market' is formed, it is obvious that they will use the card of fare increases."
KFMEA also stated, "While T map preaches 'co-prosperity' in front of the committee, behind the scenes it is evading the committee's recommendations through tricks and encroaching on the designated driver market, pushing small business owners to the brink of closure," urging, "They should stop reckless cash promotions that encroach on the small business market immediately instead of just talking about co-prosperity."

KFMEA continued its criticism of the Win-Win Growth Committee, saying, "Not only did the committee allow T map to spend up to 200 million KRW annually on promotions targeting existing customers, but it also opened the door for additional cash promotions under the pretext of a public campaign to prevent drunk driving. T map promoted cash promotions offering mileage points for using designated driver services through various media, but it is questionable whether such actions can be considered as targeting only existing customers."
