'Prostitution Again After 10 Years'... Prosecutors Demand 3 Million Won Fine for Woman Selling Sex
The prosecution requested a fine of 3 million won for Ms. A, a woman who sold sex again about 10 years after being punished for prostitution.
According to the legal community on the 22nd, the prosecution requested a fine at Ms. A's trial held on the morning of the 21st at the 11th Criminal Division of the Seoul Northern District Court (Presiding Judge Ban Jeong-mo).
Ms. A was indicted on charges of selling sex (violation of the Act on the Punishment of Acts of Arranging Sexual Traffic, etc.) after receiving 150,000 won at the end of October 2020.
Ms. A's lawyer acknowledged the prosecution's facts but said, "The defendant admits the crime and is remorseful, and is working at a cosmetics factory," adding, "Although she was punished for the same crime about 10 years ago, it was a long time ago, so the risk of recidivism is low. It was a single act of prostitution, and the profit was very minimal," appealing for leniency.
Ms. A also said in her final statement, "I am remorseful and will make sure this never happens again."
