Piccoma Ranks First as the App with the Highest Consumer Spending in Japan for the First Half of the Year

The mobile analytics data platform data.ai reported that in the '2023 First Half Mobile App Market Overall Category (including games) Consumer Spending Rankings,' Piccoma ranked 'No. 1 in Japan' and 'No. 15 globally.' It also secured the top spot for three consecutive months?April, May, and June?in the 'Japan App Market Overall Category (including games) Monthly Consumer Spending Rankings.'
Among the top five apps with the highest consumer spending in Japan's app market, which is the third largest in the world, Piccoma is the only non-game app. Holding over 50% market share in the Japanese comic app market as a single app, Piccoma has maintained its position as the number one global comic app since July 2021.
Kakao Piccoma cited the 'Work First Policy,' which prioritizes content, as a key factor in Piccoma's growth. The platform connects over 120,000 works with users more precisely and fosters an environment where users can discover new tastes and titles. They build and analyze data for each work in service and apply the results to service operations to enhance user satisfaction.
In the second half of the year, Piccoma plans to continue expanding its content library to meet the diverse tastes and demands of users. Discussions are underway to strengthen collaboration with partners, and service enhancements aimed at broadening users' content consumption will continue.

Launched in Japan in April 2016 by Kakao Piccoma, Piccoma offers e-Pub format Japanese manga, as well as webtoons and novels produced in Korea, Japan, China, and the United States, available on both app and web platforms. In September 2021, it established its European subsidiary 'Piccoma Europe' in France and launched 'France Piccoma' in March 2022.
