Gyeonggi-do 119 Youth Corps Holds Launch Ceremony on the 20th and Begins Full-Scale Activities
The Gyeonggi-do 119 Youth Corps held a joint launch ceremony on the 20th at the Osan Gyeonggi-do National Safety Experience Center and officially began their activities.
Celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, the 119 Youth Corps is a youth organization established to provide correct knowledge about safety and to nurture adults who lead a culture of citizen safety. It was originally founded as the Children's Fire Brigade in 1963 and renamed the 119 Youth Corps in 1999. Currently, 3,854 members are active within the province.
The joint launch ceremony of the 119 Youth Corps held on this day was especially meaningful as it was the first time in Gyeonggi-do and included foreign members from China, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
Jo Seon-ho, head of the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, said, "We welcome all of you who have become members of the 119 Youth Corps and ask you to carry out various activities to establish a safety culture. We will actively support the 119 Youth Corps, which has led the way in raising safety awareness among children and youth, so that it can become the best youth organization in the field of safety."
