Lawyer Lee was affiliated with the law firm Gangnam, where former special prosecutor Park served as the lead attorney. In 2014, when former special prosecutor Park ran for the Bar Association president election, Lee was in charge of managing the campaign funds.
The prosecution is reportedly confirming the process of raising election funds and their specific uses with lawyer Lee. The prosecution suspects that former special prosecutor Park, as chairman of the board of Woori Bank, promised approximately 20 billion won in return for helping the Daejang-dong group, including Kim Man-bae and Nam Wook, with consortium formation, and actually received 30 million won in cash for the Bar Association president election expenses from October to December 2014.
The prosecution is also said to have secured testimonies from related parties that Nam delivered a total of 30 million won in shopping bags to former special prosecutor Park through former special prosecutor aide Yang Jae-sik in 3 to 4 installments at the campaign office and the law firm Gangnam office.
Earlier, the prosecution applied charges that former special prosecutor Park received a total of 80 million won as a bribe related to the consortium and requested an arrest warrant. However, the court dismissed it on the 30th of last month, stating, "There is room for dispute in factual and legal aspects regarding the actual receipt of money."

Accordingly, the prosecution is conducting supplementary investigations to specify the timing of the bribe receipt and clarify the nature of the funds received by former special prosecutor Park's daughter from Hwacheon Daeyu Asset Management. On the 18th, they searched the residences of former special prosecutor Park's daughter, wife, and lawyer Lee to secure related materials.
