Two Representatives of Construction and Sales Agencies Involved in Fraudulent Sales Referred to Prosecutors
The CEO of a construction company involved in fraudulent sales of knowledge industry centers in Naju, Jeollanam-do, has been handed over to the prosecution.
The Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Investigation Unit 1 of the Jeollanam-do Police Agency sent two individuals, including the CEO of the construction company and the CEO of the sales agency, who were arrested on charges of fraud under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes, to the prosecution on the 19th.
They are accused of deceiving buyers in the early 2020s by falsely representing knowledge industry centers, which are apartment-style factories, as residential facilities, thereby collecting approximately 18.5 billion KRW in sales proceeds.
The properties fraudulently sold are apartment-style factories that are only permitted to be used as offices for approved industries or dormitories for workers.
However, they falsely advertised that these apartment-style factories could be leased as general residential facilities like officetels.
According to the police investigation, 99 applicants were found to have been deceived by the false advertisements.
A total of seven suspects have been booked by the police in connection with this case, including the two who were arrested and sent to prosecution.
