Residents Rise Up... Gyeongju Bulguk-dong, Cheonbuk-myeon, Bodeok-dong, and Gampo-eup Declare Support for Hosting the APEC Summit
Citizens of Gyeongju have lined up to declare their support for hosting the APEC Summit in Gyeongju.
The Saemaul Association of Bulguk-dong, Gyeongju City, declared their support for hosting the APEC Summit in Gyeongju on the afternoon of the 17th at 6 PM at the Bulguk-dong Administrative Welfare Center. About 30 Saemaul members attended the declaration, including Lee Eun-woo, President of the Bulguk-dong Saemaul Council, Choi In-ran, President of the Saemaul Women’s Association, and Park Dal-gyu, Head of Bulguk-dong.
The Bulguk-dong Saemaul Council and Saemaul Women’s Association emphasized that they will actively promote and support the hosting of the APEC Summit in Gyeongju together with the residents.
Park Dal-gyu, Head of Bulguk-dong, Gyeongju City, said, “Gyeongju is a treasure trove of our country’s history and culture and a UNESCO World Heritage city, making it the optimal location for hosting the APEC Summit,” adding, “We will work hard with the residents to attract the APEC Summit.”
Lee Eun-woo, President of the Bulguk-dong Saemaul Council, stated, “Hosting the APEC Summit will greatly contribute to Gyeongju’s international reputation and revitalization of the local economy,” and added, “As the Saemaul Association, we will strive to create an atmosphere and promote the hosting of the APEC Summit.”
The Cheonbuk-myeon Residents’ Autonomy Committee of Gyeongju City (Chairman Choi Man-gyu) joined the relay support declaration for hosting the 2025 APEC Summit in Gyeongju on the 18th. After finishing their monthly meeting at the Residents’ Autonomy Center, the committee members declared their support for hosting the 2025 APEC Summit in Gyeongju.

View original imageThe Cheonbuk-myeon Residents’ Autonomy Committee then informed visitors at the Residents’ Autonomy Center that Gyeongju is the optimal venue for the APEC Summit and explained the advantages of hosting the event in detail. Chairman Choi Man-gyu emphasized, “We will do our best with the Residents’ Autonomy Committee to make the hosting of the APEC Summit an opportunity to showcase the brilliant development of Gyeongju to the world.”
Kim Cheol-woo, Head of Cheonbuk-myeon, Gyeongju City, expressed his gratitude to the Residents’ Autonomy Committee members for their interest and support in hosting the APEC Summit in Gyeongju, saying, “As the most Korean city and a representative cultural tourism city of Korea, Gyeongju will actively strive to be selected as the host city, and Cheonbuk-myeon will also make every effort.”
The Bodeok-dong Neighborhood Association of Gyeongju City continued the relay support declaration for hosting the 2025 APEC Summit in Gyeongju during a two-day visit to Jeju Island from the 12th to the 13th for an advanced site tour. About 10 members of the Bodeok-dong Neighborhood Association participated in this relay support declaration held in Jeju, one of Korea’s representative tourist cities along with Gyeongju.
For the successful hosting of the APEC Summit in Gyeongju, it is crucial to spread understanding and consensus among Gyeongju citizens. In this regard, Bodeok-dong in Gyeongju had previously declared support starting with the Community Social Security Council, followed by the Nature Conservation Council and the Rural Leaders Association.
Kim Young-jo, Head of Bodeok-dong, Gyeongju, said, “We thank the Neighborhood Association for leading the promotion of hosting the 2025 APEC Summit in Gyeongju in Jeju Island, and we will continue to carry out promotional activities for successful hosting in cooperation with staff and local residents.”
The Gampo-eup Residents’ Autonomy Committee of Gyeongju City (Chairman Choi Hak-hyung) also continued the relay support declaration for hosting the 2025 APEC Summit in Gyeongju. Previously, the Saemaul Women’s Association and the Gampo-eup Flounder Festival Preparatory Committee had declared their support, and notably, this declaration included participation from residents, strengthening their resolve.
