Seodaemun-gu to Accelerate Development in Hongje 2 Redevelopment Promotion Zone Project
Seodaemun-gu Hongje 2 Redevelopment Promotion Zone Promotion Plan Amendment (Draft) Approved by District Council
Public hearing to be held next month to gather residents' opinions... Smooth project progress expected through promotion plan amendment
Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seongheon) announced on the 19th that the amendment (draft) to the promotion plan for the Hongje 2 Redevelopment Promotion Zone was recently approved by the 292nd Seodaemun-gu extraordinary council meeting.
This area had experienced slow progress since being designated as a redevelopment promotion district and zone in 2010.
Accordingly, the district conducted a public inspection of the amended redevelopment promotion plan applying relaxed operational standards for smooth project progress (May 17, 2023 ? June 1, 2023), which was completed last month with no separate objections.
Subsequently, pursuant to Article 9, Paragraph 3 of the Special Act on the Promotion of Urban Redevelopment, the district requested the district council’s opinion on the amendment to the redevelopment promotion plan.
The main changes include “modifications to infrastructure due to the expiration of long-unexecuted urban planning facilities” and “relaxation of residential ratio due to improvements in operational standards regarding building use.”
Landowners within the zone are expecting expanded project feasibility related to “the establishment of small roads following the expiration of long-unexecuted roads and the relaxation of the residential ratio from 50% to 90%.”
Although the district council expressed opinions such as “it would be good to include commercial buildings located along Tongil-ro and proceed with the project together,” since there were no separate objections during the public inspection, the amendment was approved to ensure smooth project progress.
