Chinese National Arrested and Sentenced for Methamphetamine Use and Drug Trafficking via 'WeChat'
A man in his 40s from China was arrested by the police for purchasing and using drugs through the Chinese messenger service 'WeChat'.
On the 18th, the Guro Police Station in Seoul announced that Mr. A, in his 40s, was sent to prosecution in custody on the 13th for violating the Narcotics Control Act (purchase, use, possession).
Mr. A is accused of contacting a Chinese national Mr. B via WeChat around 12:30 a.m. on May 3rd in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, and purchasing 6.5g of methamphetamine in two transactions, including taking 4g of methamphetamine hidden in an air conditioner outdoor unit, for 1 million won.
He is also accused of using methamphetamine twice by heating it with fire and inhaling the smoke at his residence in Dorim-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, on the 6th.
Last month, after analyzing Mr. A’s financial accounts and mobile phone call records to confirm the charges, the police conducted a stakeout and obtained an arrest warrant on the 7th near his residence, leading to his arrest.
