Campaign to Prevent Suicide Through Improvement Project of Bungeotan Sales Launched

Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced that it will newly designate and operate the ‘2023 Life Love Practice Store’ through the briquette sales improvement project to prevent suicide accidents caused by carbon monoxide poisoning.

The newly participating stores this time are ▲ Gokseong-gun Ok-gwa Nonghyup Hanaro Mart ▲ Gokseong-gun Osan Nonghyup Hanaro Mart, two locations.

The briquette sales improvement project aims to raise awareness about the misuse of briquettes and improve the suicide risk environment by spreading a culture of respect for life. Gokseong-gun has been conducting the briquette sales improvement campaign since 2019, and so far, 18 locations have been operating as ‘Life Love Practice Stores.’

At the ‘Life Love Practice Stores,’ when selling briquettes, the seller confirms the buyer’s intended use before proceeding with the sale.

Additionally, they explain the correct usage of briquettes and how to respond to carbon monoxide poisoning, providing related informational materials as well.

The county is focusing on building a cooperative system for suicide prevention using briquettes through the designation and operation of ‘Life Love Practice Stores.’

To this end, they provide necessary guidelines, promote collaboration with other organizations, and aim to expand the briquette campaign. They also hold meetings to explore various measures to ensure the suicide prevention project operates efficiently.

Meanwhile, Gokseong-gun has previously promoted a project to install carbon monoxide detectors in rooms targeting lodging businesses to prevent suicide caused by carbon monoxide poisoning.

Furthermore, they plan to expand suicide prevention campaigns targeting lodging businesses, running them alongside the briquette sales behavior improvement project, and actively respond to accidents caused by carbon monoxide poisoning.
