In the Scene of the Pediatric ICU Accidentally Recorded... The Mother Broke Down in Tears
Netizens Moved by Heartfelt Childcare
Mr. A Expresses Gratitude to Medical Staff Doing Their Best
The heartfelt care of a nurse tending to a child admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) has been revealed, deeply moving netizens.
On the 14th, A, the mother of a 21-month-old child who underwent a pediatric liver transplant, wrote on her social networking service (SNS) account, "After watching the vlog of the professor in charge of the pediatric ICU on YouTube today, I shed a bucket of tears and am now writing this post."
This accidentally recorded video fully captured the nurse's actions of lovingly speaking affectionate words to the child and carefully taking care of them, even when no one was watching.

A explained, "After my child had the liver transplant surgery on November 1st and was moved to the pediatric ICU, the feeling of waiting for news was far beyond what the expression 'anxious' can describe," adding, "Due to COVID-19, visits were prohibited, and only after a month in the PICU was a brief visit allowed."
She shared, "So, when I handed over a spare phone with KakaoTalk installed, the nurses in charge kindly made FaceTime calls to update the concerned guardians on how the baby was doing." She added, "At first, when the child was semi-conscious, it was okay, but later, seeing the mother on the screen made the baby cry so much that I asked them to just send photos and videos."
Three days after the surgery, while absentmindedly looking at her phone, A saw an alert from the Baby Cam app, which had been useful when the child was in the previous ward. Entranced, she opened the app and saw the child she had longed to see. In a daze, she activated the screen recording function to keep the child's image.
She explained that although she had closed the app and handed over the phone, it seemed the nurse accidentally opened the app while handling the phone.
The recorded video posted by Mr. A showed a nurse staying by the child's side, saying, "Do you remember this?", "This was when you were in the ward," and "Do you know Dad?" while showing photos taken before the surgery and pictures of the family, reminding the child not to forget their family.

The recorded video A posted showed the nurse beside the child, calling the child's name and saying, "Do you remember this?", "This was when you were in the ward," and "Do you know Dad?" while showing pre-surgery photos and family pictures to help the child remember their family. Especially, the nurse in the video continuously spoke to the child with words like "Dad and Mom are waiting for you to get better soon," "You're so pretty," "You're really cute," "I love you," and "I love you." The nurse also comforted the child, who must have been struggling with treatment, saying, "Earlier during the taping, you had a hard time. I'm sorry."
A said, "That night, I watched the few-minute-long recorded video countless times and cried a lot," adding, "I am just an ordinary mother, but I felt both anger at such situations and deep gratitude to the majority of admirable medical staff who work with unwavering dedication for the suffering little lives, putting their bodies on the line."
Netizens who read A's warm story left comments such as, "I wish only stories like this would be posted every day," "I respect the dedication they have for their work," and "It brings tears to my eyes."
The nurse from the pediatric ICU at Seoul Asan Medical Center Children's Hospital said, "I am proud that the child overcame the liver transplant surgery well, and I am very happy to see the child recovering health and spending daily life with the family." She added, "I hope all children fighting illnesses in the pediatric ICU recover like this child and return to their families as soon as possible."
She also said, "Although only my voice is in the video, all the medical staff at the Children's Hospital are doing their best with love for the children. Please send warm encouragement and support to all medical staff who are always working hard for the children."
Meanwhile, even aside from the video taken that day, A was already grateful for the medical staff's sincere and warm care. She talked about her daughter's daily changing hairstyles, tape cut into heart shapes, photo frames with the child's pictures, and the loving voices in the countless videos sent by the staff.
She emphasized, "Of course, somewhere in society, unthinkable things like child abuse by medical staff or concealment of medical accidents happen. As an ordinary mother, I am angry about such things," but at the same time, "I wanted to express my gratitude for the majority of admirable medical staff who work with unwavering dedication for the suffering little lives, putting their bodies on the line in a precious and admirable way."
