Suncheon Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu Receives the Freedom Award from the World League for Freedom and Democracy
69th Anniversary of the Founding of the World League for Freedom and Democracy
Former Suncheon Mayor Noh Kwan-gyu received the ‘Freedom Award’ from the World League Freedom Democracy on the 14th.
The ‘Freedom Award’ is presented to members from various countries and prominent figures in society who have contributed to the protection and development of liberal democracy and the prosperity of humanity. On this day, at the Suncheonman International Wetland Center garden room, Jeong Seon-chae, Chairman of the Jeonnam Branch of the Korea Freedom Federation, presented the award to Mayor Noh Kwan-gyu on behalf of Kang Seok-ho, President of the Korea Freedom Federation.
Since taking office as a local government head in the 8th term of direct elections, Mayor Noh Kwan-gyu has been highly recognized for his dedicated service in promoting the values of liberal democracy, including protecting the liberal democratic system and reforming public awareness through democratic civic education.
Mayor Noh Kwan-gyu of Suncheon said, “Receiving the World League Freedom Democracy Freedom Award means that I should work even harder for the liberal democracy of the Republic of Korea,” adding, “As the mayor of Suncheon, I will fulfill my duties for regional development and take the lead in fostering citizens’ pride in liberal democracy and strengthening security awareness.”
Meanwhile, the World League Freedom Democracy, headquartered in Taiwan, is an international non-governmental organization established in 1967 to contribute to the development of liberal democracy and the prosperity of humanity.
