Samsung Electronics to Host the 7th Samsung Security Technology Forum in August
In-Person Event Held for the First Time in 4 Years Since COVID-19 Outbreak
Samsung Electronics will hold the '7th Samsung Security Technology Forum (SSTF)' at the Seoul R&D Campus on the 22nd of next month. SSTF is an annual event hosted by Samsung Electronics since 2017 to expand the base of information security technology and nurture talent. World-renowned security experts, academia, and industry professionals participate to share the latest achievements in the field of security technology.
This year, the forum will be held offline for the first time in four years since the spread of COVID-19, under the theme "Hacking for Security: How Hacking Drives Security Innovation." Following the welcoming remarks by President Jeon Kyung-hoon, CTO of Samsung Electronics' DX Division and Head of Samsung Research, Hwang Yong-ho, General Manager (Senior Executive Vice President) of the Security & Privacy Team overseeing security technology at Samsung Research, will deliver the keynote speech.
There will also be invited lectures by Professor Shin Kang-geun from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Michigan, Professor Yoon In-soo from the Department of Electrical Engineering at KAIST, and Professor Han Jun from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Yonsei University. In the technical sessions, various topics will be introduced, including ▲research findings from authors of papers at leading security conferences ▲collaborative activities between Samsung Research and Samsung Electronics business units to protect customer products and data ▲and efforts for early vulnerability detection.

View original imageThe hacking experience zone, which has received positive responses every year, will also be set up at this year's event. Unlike last year, it will be held online three days before the main event, on the 19th of next month. Various content such as basic hacking practice and simulated hacking, accessible to everyone from beginners to advanced participants, will be provided for 12 hours.

President Jeon Kyung-hoon of Samsung Electronics said, "This will be a great opportunity to hear about Samsung's various efforts to prioritize the protection of customer products and data, as well as the latest research from global security experts," adding, "We hope this event will strengthen technical exchange and cooperation with the security community." Registration for the event is open from the 17th until the 22nd of next month.
