Ulsan Office of Education Distributes English Lesson Materials Utilizing ChatGPT
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education has developed and distributed a ChatGPT-based English lesson materials book for English teachers.
The materials book covers lesson design using the generative AI service ChatGPT, project lesson examples, evaluation methods, and is created to be easily understood by English teachers.
Specifically, it includes points to be mindful of when using ChatGPT in lessons and methods for utilizing it across the four areas of listening, speaking, writing, and reading.
To enable efficient use of generative AI, it also provides guidance on prompt composition and utilization strategies, along with various prompts to assist English lessons.
The materials book suggests ways to reconstruct or summarize dialogues presented in textbooks at various levels, and methods to create role-play or drama lesson materials by converting reading comprehension texts into scripts.
It also presents diverse lesson design methods such as generating conversations using English vocabulary keywords and conducting English role-play lessons using characters from famous movies and dramas.

An official from the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education stated, “We aim to create effective changes in English lessons for the new era through the ChatGPT-based English lesson materials book,” and added, “We hope English teachers will effectively utilize generative AI to lead the transformation of future-oriented English education.”
