Blade Ent Subsidiary Blade Media Announces Winners of the 1st Drama Script Contest
Comprehensive entertainment company Blade Ent announced on the 17th that its subsidiary Blade Media has revealed the winners of the 1st Drama Script Contest.
The contest, targeting mini-series of six episodes or more, was held from April 17 to May 4. Despite being the first contest, hundreds of entries were received. Based on originality, structure, and production feasibility, a total of seven works (1 Grand Prize, 2 Excellence Awards, 2 Merit Awards, and 2 Encouragement Awards) were selected through three rounds of preliminary and final evaluations.
The Grand Prize, with a cash award of 100 million KRW, was awarded to "Hwanbul-e Moksumeul Georeotda" by writers Kang Mi-kyung and Choi Hye-jin. The work was praised for its compelling storytelling and well-woven mystery and romance elements that captured attention.
The Excellence Awards, each with a cash prize of 50 million KRW, went to "Boss Angel" by writer Yoon Seul and "Betting" by writer Kang Gabi. Both works were recognized for their engaging and immersive treatment of attractive themes.
The Merit Awards were given to "Migung" by writer Jo Hee-jin and "Hyeomoseureon Geudaeege" by writer Hwang Ye-ran, while the Encouragement Awards went to "Mulsok-ui Yeoja" by writer Lim Si-on and "Anaega Sarajyeotda" by writer Shin Yoo-jung. The Merit Awards carry a prize of 30 million KRW, and the Encouragement Awards 20 million KRW.
The winners will develop their awarded works as writers affiliated with Blade Media, aiming for drama production and broadcasting. The selected works will be showcased on screen in the future through close mentoring with producers and teams.
Blade Media stated, "We will do our best to support the writers selected through this contest to establish themselves long-term and to have their works produced as dramas."

Meanwhile, according to a broadcasting industry survey report released by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the domestic broadcasting market size in 2021 was 19.4 trillion KRW, showing steady growth over eight years with an average annual growth rate of 4.77%.
