Starting from a tie for third place, 4 strokes behind, Park Ji-young made five birdies without any bogeys. In the front nine, she made one birdie at the 10th hole (par 4), but in the back nine, she added three consecutive birdies from the 3rd to 5th holes and another birdie at the 8th hole (par 4). Rising to a one-stroke lead, this marks her second win of the season and sixth career victory, seven months after winning the Hana Financial Group Singapore Ladies Open last December.
Park Ji-young said, "The wind was strong, so I thought I would just play steadily, but both my shots and putts went better than expected," adding, "Since the course is very windy, I tried to check the wind as much as possible, and I was lucky." She continued, "Before this tournament, during the photo call, I saw the crown worn by the winner and thought, ‘I want to have it at least once.’ I hope to play well in the remaining two days and hold another press conference."
