Police Request Arrest Warrant for High School Girl Who Killed Friend
Perpetrator Says "We Argued After She Wanted to End Our Friendship..."
Turns Out She Was Disciplined by School Violence Committee in August Last Year
A high school girl accused of murdering a friend from the same school in Daejeon was found to have previously committed school violence (hakpok) against the deceased student. Initially, the girl had stated that the crime occurred after an argument over a 'breakup.'
According to an MBC report on the 14th, A, a 17-year-old third-year high school student accused of killing a classmate, was subject to disciplinary action by the School Violence Committee (hakpokwi) in August last year when she was in her second year, related to the victim B, also 17.
At the hakpokwi, A was judged to be the perpetrator of school violence, but the disciplinary action was reportedly limited to class separation. B's family claimed that B found it difficult to encounter A during mobile classes.
B's family said, "(B) strongly wanted the perpetrator to transfer schools, but the result was only a move to a different class."
The school acknowledged holding the hakpokwi but stated that the current incident is unrelated to the previous hakpokwi. It was also reported that the school declined to disclose the severity of A's disciplinary action, citing privacy concerns.
Earlier, the Dunsan Police Station in Daejeon applied for an arrest warrant for A on the 13th on charges of murder. A is accused of beating and strangling B to death at B's home in Seo-gu, Daejeon, around noon on the 12th.
At the time, after B died, A reportedly attempted suicide but failed and then surrendered to the police. In the police investigation, A stated, "After enrolling, I was close with B, but recently B said we should break off our friendship. I went to B's house to return B's belongings, and we talked about this issue," adding, "We argued, and that's how it happened," according to the police.
