Hanul Headquarters Conducts 'Radiation Disaster Prevention Full-Scale Drill' at Hanul Unit 1
On the 13th, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters conducted a full-scale radiation emergency drill for Hanul Unit 1.
The radiation emergency drill is conducted annually at each power plant in accordance with the "Act on Protection and Radiation Emergency Measures for Nuclear Facilities, etc." The drill aims to promptly manage potential radiation emergency accidents that may occur during power plant operations, protecting the lives and property of the public and minimizing the radiation impact on the environment.

View original imageThis drill was carried out under the supervision of officials from the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, and Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences.
The drill focused on scenarios such as damage to power generation facilities caused by natural disasters like earthquakes and tsunamis, loss of internal and external power supply, and the use of mobile power generators to restore power and provide medical relief to victims contaminated with radioactive materials.
Head of Headquarters Lee Seyong said, “This drill, assuming extreme situations, was an opportunity to secure the safety of the power plant and to verify the duties and emergency response capabilities of all emergency personnel.”
